Woodmead Road
Known throughout the world as the home of luxury carpets, the site at Woodmead Road has been weaving the iconic Axminster Carpets since the 1930s.
The work that has gone into repositioning of Axminster Carpets Ltd as a niche high value carpet brand over recent years has now released much of the site for repurposing.
A thriving community
Since 2018, Axminster Group Ltd has been slowly and systematically revitalising the main site as the repositioning of Axminster Carpets has been undertaken. There is now over 60 businesses located on site, from John Deere to Ulster Carpets, Safar Indian restaurant to California Gym - with the famous carpet manufacturer at the heart.
The site has gone from 100 employees to over 350 in this short space of time. It is now a bustling community offering many services and facilities to Axminster and the surrounding area.
Imagination and investment
Over the past few years, the Axminster Group ltd has provided essential investment to refurbish many of the redundent buildings to provide affordable workshops and offices to local business'.
With Axminster Carpets at the heart, Axminster Group continues to implement a rolling programme of refurbishment and look at larger ideas for revitalisation of the original buildings as they inevitably come to the end of their serviceable life.
